Painting is easy when you don’t know how,…

but very difficult when you do. – Edgar Degas

Beka now has art class at school and this quote makes a lot of sense now. Before she would create, paint, and draw whatever whenever. And now she still does that sometimes, but as she is learning "art" I see her losing that creativity. A fish has to look like the fish she was taught to draw. Don’t get me wrong, the drawing techniques she is learning are great. And the fish does look cool. I just miss the focus on process.

Jared still is all about the process, getting the crafts out and using as many products in one picture as possible. I know this is all about growing up and changing, lately it has all been happening too fast.

Nature Walk

Before the weather turns too cold, we decided to get a few more nature walks in. Hopefully, one of these times we will go out when the trees are turning colors and I can get some really neat pictures. The problem with nature walks with Beka and Jared is that the walkway can NOT be paved. It really isn’t a nature walk if you aren’t stomping through dirt and leaves to get around. This place had a nice boardwalk to walk on in come places. And the kids found a little cave like place to explore too. Beka, my bugs are cool girl, was actually not interested in the cave. Jared, boy who climbs everything, loved it.
