Trip to Another Playground

Yes, we went to another playground. Beka particularly likes this one because it has ropes to climb on. The funniest part of the trip was the sprinklers. The plants around the playground were getting water. So eveytime the kids thougth they might be even a little thirsty, they went the the sprinklers to get a drink. Beka ended up soaking her whole head.

Beka the Bug Catcher.

I know I have talked about this before. But Beka is still "into"bugs. She loves them, wants to catch, and would keep them. IF she sees a spider in the house before I do, she will lovingly pick it up and deposit it outside. All I can say is "EWWWWWWWW". She is really good at finding the insects everywhere. She recently bought a bugcatcher and it is her greatest joy right now.

Boat Launching

The kids and I made boats out of various materials around the house including styrfoam, toilet paper rools, and craft sticks. Then we filled up the little pool and saw which ones floated and which ones sunk. The toilet paper roll one didn’t last long and the craft stick ones started to come unglued. The winner was the styrofoam boats.

The kids were allowed to play in the pool while Mommy read her book.

I must have gotten a little too distracted by my book because the next time I looked up the pool looked like this.

Pond

Jared loves to go look at the smaller of the ponds in our neighborhood. He just thinks it is the coolest thing ever. In the pictures above, he decided that weeds made great drumsticks and the water was the perfect drum. Jared can find rhythm and music anywhere.

Washing the Bikes

Too bad I didn’t get any photos of what prompted us needing to wash the bikes. Jared had been riding his bike on the basketball court and not being able to stop well yet rode off into the mud. The bike was covered. So, I decided that we would go home and wash the bikes. Well, of course, you can’t wash a clean bike! Beka asked permission and the proceeded to walk her bike thorugh the mud. Now one would think that would be dirty enough. You would be wrong! She then purposefully dropped the bike so it would be as muddy if not more than Jared’s. I just stood back and laughed. The other parents looked at me as though I had lost my mind. But the kids had fun. Anyway, we then went home and washed the bikes.

Just a Swingin’

2008 06 15 Jared and Beka swinging

This is a selfish post that also illustrates how lazy I can be. Beka and Jared can now both pump on a swing! Do you know what that means??? That means I don’t have to push anymore. I don’t even have to give them a push or two to get started. They do it all on their own. And that means I get to take a book to the playground and read while they swing. Jared told me, "Mommy, now you can read all you want" and "You should remember your book all the time, Mommy"

And when Beka and Jared aren’t actually swinging, they spin on the swings. It makes me nauseated just to watch them

Family Outing to the Pool

Andrew and I took the kids to the pool here. It is a very busy place, but the kids love to swim and get better at it each time we go. Beka is a little fish. It takes Jared a little while to warm up, but then he is as big of a daredevil as his sister. After about an hour of coaxing, Jared finally put his face in the water and went underwater. Of course, he choose to do this after mom and dad had given up on the idea. It just had to be his idea in his time.

There are many spray parks here. And the kids enjoy them to a certain extent. I enjoy watching them just run around in them.

Grandparents Visit

Grandma and Grandpa Westberg visited us recently. We had a blast spending time with them. The kids got to ride the carousel.

We also played minature golf and then went off to play on the playground. Beka enjoyed the seesaw and Jared enjoys just running around.

After things settled down a little, Grandma and Grandpa were able to watch the kids ride their bikes. The kids really like showing off this new talent.

Clay project

After the disaster of the homemade clay, I went out and bought clay of the kids to play with. They spent a long time rolling out the clay and making different shapes and creatures with it.

A couple of days later the clay was hard enough for them to paint it.
