Potter’s Bridge Hike
Andrew and I wanted to find something outside to do with the kids. We happened to find a nature area we hadn’t been to yet. The kids were excited until they discovered that the trail was pathed and not just a path through the woods.
The place also had a very nice playground and a covered bridge that you could explore. Andrew and the kids discovered a spider’s web, too. It was a great way to wear out the kids!

Spring Sing
All the kindergarten classes hosted a Spring Sing for their families. They sang songs about what they had learn in school such as the ABC’s, numbers, and months. They also sang about metamorphosis and slipery fish. Beka had a speaking part, "Did you know that frogs and butterflies go through metamorphosis?" Jared even sat nicely through the whole thing.

Tornado in a Bottle
Beka and Jared have been asking where tornadoes, whirlpools and hurricanes come from. And you can only tell them the science so many times before you get tired of hearing yourself repeat it over and over. So, we made a tornado in a bottle. Okay, Andrew made the tornado and kept spinning it over and over for the kids. I honestly don’t know who enjoyed it more. And they keep playing with it at night.

Bike Riding
Andrew took Beka’s training wheels off around May 3rd. And May 10th, she took off on her bike by herself. It was truly wonderful to see it all click in her head. She just took off and now cannot get enough of riding her bike. Andrew is a wonderful teacher. He was so patient with her. He didn’t hang onto the seat, he held onto her under her arms so she could get the feel of how the bike moves and learn to self-correct earlier. He did a great job with her.

Carnival
As a fundraiser, Beka’s school had a Carnival. There were games, prizes and raffles. Beka and Jared had a blast! It was a little overwhelming for Mom, but after a while I even had a good time. Dad just went with the flow like usual and really enjoyed watching the kids. There was one tic, tac, toe game where you threw a bean bag into a tic, tac, toe board. Three in a row and you win. Beka got up there took great aim and got a line up and down of three in a row. Now Jared’s up. He steps up to the line and you can see this calculating look in his eye. He hits the middle bottom one, then the right bottom one (at this point Andrew and I bust up laughing), then the left bottom one, and he won. It was just so funny to see that he calculated the easiest, best way to win the game. From the look on his face, you just knew he had planned the whole thing out while he was standing in line. There was also face painting and many activites. It was a great family night.

Jared at the Fire Station
Jared’s class went on a field trip to the fire station. While there, they learned all about where the firemen sleep, what chores they have to do, and what the different firetrucks do. They even saw some of the firemen slide down the pole. Afterwards everyone went to an ice cream shop for a treat. Jared chose lemon ice cream on a cone and loved evey minute of it.
