Finally outside

The last two days here have been beautiful. We have gone for walks outside both days. Not enough of the snow has melted to play in the backyard yet. Yesterday, we talked about water and how it was flowing under the snow and down the hills. The kids had fun trying to figure out what would or wouldn’t float on the little streams. Today, we talked about where snow comes from and how it melts.

Also, Beka visited a kindergarten class with her preschool class. Her favorite part was visiting the computer room. The second favorite part was the bus ride to and from the school.

Sledding

Last Saturday, we took the kids sledding for the first time. At a park near here, they have a huge hill. It takes forever to climb up it and only seconds to go down. Beka and Jared had fun, but Jared didn’t last long. Luckily, there was a smaller hill that he could go down a few more times. I was thankfully that they didn’t last long because it was still pretty cold out.

Winter Blues

We’ve had to work extra hard to keep the kids entertained this winter. It’s just been too cold lately to get them outside. The other day, I took a dry-erase marker to the bathtub wall and we played darts with the sucker-ball tubby toys.

Groundhog Day

Yesterday, at preschool everyone was talking about how today was Groundhog Day. On the way home, Beka kept talking about wanting to know this morning what the groundhog predicted. She was so excited this morning, when we found out that the Phil didn’t see his shadow. She jumped around saying, “Spring is coming, spring is coming.”

Also yesterday, both kids got their haircut. They really really needed it. Jared’s hair just does not cooperate when it is long. It just sticks out everywhere like a big poofball.
