Summertime

We have been doing a lot of things this summer. We have been painting on the easel outside. We have been treasure hunting, swimming, and just plain playing. The kids have a wonderful imaginations. They have two favorite games this summer: pirates and dragon. The swingset has a telescope attached so they love to go up there and pretend to be pirates. Jared is the captain and steers the boat. Beka looks for land and yells Land Ho! She even has a word for when you can’t see land.

The Dragon game needs a little more Mommy or Daddy participation. Beka is, of course, the beautiful princess with magical powers. Jared gets to be the knight (pronounced “knife” by him) who gets to ride his trusty steed into battle. That leaves Mommy and Daddy to be the evil dragon who captures the princess or knight. It is so funny to see them “rescue” each other. Every once in a while Daddy gets to be the sorceror who gives the knight and princess ways to defeat the dragon. In the end, though, the dragon always ends up becoming a nice dragon. We must have a happy ending.

Below are just some random pictures of the kids.

New Church Website

It’s been a long time since we’ve posted. We’ve been really busy lately. Mom and Dad Westberg came up for a visit awhile back. We ate some pizza and then headed out to Cold Stone Creamery which was our REAL meal.

Jen and I have been busy putting together a new website for the church. Check it out at www.richwoods.org

Celebration Time

I may be jinxing myself here. I am officially declaring Jared toilet trained. We haven’t had accidents for about 2 weeks now. He only wears a diaper at bedtime and naptime. I am so proud of my boy.

Beka is writing

Beka has been writing her name for a couple of weeks now. The A’s are backwards but she does a great job. IN her room, she has this wonderful spelling toy. The toy also has the words written on it. Today she came out of her room and handed me this piece of paper. I am so proud of her.
