The ZOO days of summer

My mother was kind enough to get our family one of the items on our Christmas list last year: A year pass to the zoo. We use it quite often, and it has already paid for itself many times over. The Peoria zoo is fairly small and can be walked through in about an hour if you’re going a leisurely pace. We’re down to about 30-45 minutes since we already know what we want to visit and have read all the little signs before.

Jared liked touching the billy goat’s horns.

The zoo was nice enough to provide a dispenser of hand sanitizer, so we all got our squirt and moved on to the camels. The camels were busy chewing on the orange treat that their keeper had just given them. They looked quite appreciative. After that, we headed down and around to the lions. The lions are quite fat and lazy at the peoria zoo, but you get to be a lot closer than many other zoos.

Another kid favorite is the three sea lions.

The last stop was special because daddy came with to the zoo this time since it was a weekend visit. Mommy is always too scared to go into the bat cave.
